WELCOME to the Finger Lakes Entrepreneurs' Forum Web Site
FLEF is an organization for and by entrepreneurs covering Ithaca and the surrounding areas of upstate New York. We hope you enjoy your visit and find some useful information too.

Next FLEF Meeting: Friday, July 18, 2008

We would like to thank Cande Carroll for arranging our June 25th meeting at the Ithaca Yacht Club. What a pretty setting on Cayuga Lake!
We would also like to thank Jonathan Miller, Executive Director of Homelands Productions, for taking time out of his busy day to be our guest speaker.
Forty plus folks joined us to listen to Jonathan speak about his career in the Communications World and his quest to answer “the big questions”. His tales of encounters around the world and the stories of people and projects that have evolved from them were very entertaining as well as enlightening. Jonathan stated that he doesn’t consider himself an entrepreneur and hoped that some of his talk would resonate with the entrepreneurs in the audience.
He opened the door and gave us a peek at the “behind the scenes” activities that take place before bringing “news” to the public. Interestingly enough, many of these activities are faced by the entrepreneurial community in pursuit of their businesses. Each must have an idea / product, garner support for the idea / product, analyze the marketability, seek financing, and bring idea / product to fruition. And above all you must be persistent through set-backs and disappointments.
If you haven’t heard by now, Tony Eisenhut, President of the Kensa Group, is the recipient of the Cutting Award for Entrepreneurship this year. Tony is an Entrepreneur in his own right as well as an investor in some start-up companies. Tony thanked the FLEF organization and all of the people who paved the road before. People like Dave and Marion Cutting, Dave Ahlers, Andy Sciarabba, Roger Williams and all the others who worked to bring business and diversity to the Ithaca area. In addition, Tony not only remembered, but dedicated his award to Robb Cutting, a FLEF member and son of Dave and Marion Cutting who died unexpectedly in 2007.
Next meeting is the Party-by-the Pond on July 18th. Hope to see you there.
